By law, the Office of Quality Assurance/ Quality Improvement is required to:
(1) Assure the quality of services, provided by agencies or individuals, to this population
(2) Provide for the protection and promotion of the legal and civil rights of this population
(3) Investigate and evaluate, or cause to be investigated or evaluated, reports made pursuant to the law
The Unit advocates for the individual and/or family, settles disputes between providers and individuals/families, investigates complaints, and assures that a quality plan of care is implemented. The plan of care must meet health and safety standards, and be compliant with State and federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Medicaid.
