About: This document is Appendix H of the approved 2006 Home and Community Based Waiver Application. It includes a description of the various activities of the Division to improve quality within the service delivery system. Responsive to customer feedback and analysis of various data collection activities, the Quality Management Strategy measures, addresses and enhances quality of life, services and supports and organizational practices within the system for people with developmental disabilities and their families in Rhode Island.
Rhode Island's Quality Management Strategy includes systems and approaches to collect and analyze information in various areas (discovery); to provide technical assistance and program development to agencies or to initiate formal requests/action, as necessary (remediation); and a primary focus to measure and improve overall system performance (quality improvement).

About: This tool has been developed by members of the Health and Safety Sub Committee of the RI Statewide Quality Consortium from a review of materials/information used by DD community agencies in Rhode Island, technical assistance from the Human Services Research Institute (HSRI) in MA., and from information shared by various state agencies and community providers across the country. It is intended to be a resource for DD community agencies in Rhode Island to use for planning purposes to ensure the health and safety of people with developmental disabilities as well as encouraging individual choice and actions to minimize or prevent of serious types of incidents.

This Guide produced by the Council on Quality and Leadership's (CQL) National Center on Outcomes and Resources (NCOR) (www.thecouncil.org) provides detailed resource information for community agencies on the tasks associated with incident management and their direct relationship on the quality of life of persons with disabilities.

About: The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Project is a process that has been designed by people with disabilities in RI that uses a group interviewing and observation format to determine what people with disabilities understand about the system, what they think about various supports and how those supports are affecting their lives. This Annual Report is a summary of the findings from administrative interviews, program observations and focus groups involving 154 people with developmental disabilities from five community agencies visited in Rhode Island.

About: The Final Report for the consumer outcomes component of the National Core Indicators (NCI) national data collection project http://www.hsri.org/nci/ for satisfaction surveys involving people with developmental disabilities collected for 2004 and 2005. A total of fifteen states (including Rhode Island) plus Orange County California are included in this final report
